Water Conservation Programme

The Jaldhan Development Programme aims to promote rainwater harvesting and integrate it with various downstream activities, such as agriculture and animal husbandry. This holistic approach leads to sustainable development across the region.

Apart from raising awareness about water conservation, the programme has also helped:

  • Encourage communities in the villages of Okhamandal to unite and collaborate towards a common goal.
  • Enable people to regenerate and develop sustainable sources of livelihood.
  • Increase peoples’ access to and supervision of public resources through promotion and strengthening of community institutions.
  • Prevent migration among poor and marginalised communities by implementing drought-proofing mechanisms.
